I’m Dr. Alice Hucko.
I’m a dual US and German board certified pediatrician who has trained and worked everywhere from major academic centers to small community hospitals in both Europe and the East and West Coast of the US. Along the way, I’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly and have thought a lot about what we can do to change this inspiring and challenging profession for the better. I’m also a writer and mother of three young children now living in Berlin, Germany with my physician husband.
I started this blog as a way to think through the bewildering task of parenting small humans, carving out a career path in a system that hasn’t necessarily been designed with me in mind and imagining a better way to care for patients while caring for ourselves and each other.
My hope is to connect with others- parents, doctors, disgruntled optimists, hopeful changemakers- as you navigate your own versions of this journey.
If you’re anything like me, you’re always this close to having it all figured out. Parenting. Career. Life.
So, here we are. Shall we dig in together?
